Who regulates MLO licensing in Maryland?
Maryland mortgage loan originators are licensed through the NMLS and regulated by the Maryland Office of Financial Regulation. Maryland requires 20 hours of NMLS-approved education that must include 5 hours of Maryland law — 3 hours of Maryland mortgage law and 2 hours of finder's fee law — then you pass the SAFE exam.
Why is the package 25 hours if Maryland requires 20?
